Concerning Scripture
We believe in the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments as verbally inspired of God and wholly inerrant in their original writings, infallible and God-breathed, and that they are the supreme and final authority for faith and practice. We believe that scripture should be interpreted literally, which includes understanding the various literary genres that the human authors, under the inspiration of God, used in writing the words of scripture. Scripture must also be interpreted within the grand story of Redemption which unfolds throughout the pages of Scripture.
(2 Timothy 3:16-17, Matthew 5:18, 2 Peter 3:15-16, John 16:12-13, 2 Peter 1:20-21)
Concerning God
We believe in the one true God declared in the Holy Scriptures, triune and eternally existing in the three persons of God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. These three persons possess the same attributes and perfections and are each worthy of homage, confidence, and obedience.
(Deut. 6:4, John 10:30, Acts 5:3-4, 1 John 5:7)
Concerning God the Father
We believe in God the Father, unchanging, perfect in holiness, infinite in wisdom, measureless in power. We believe that He involves Himself mercifully in the affairs of men, that He hears and answers prayer, and that He saves from sin and death all who come to Him through Jesus Christ.
(Ps. 99:9, Ps. 147:5, Job 42:2, Jas. 1:17, 1 John 5:14-15, Eph. 2:4-9)
Concerning God the Son and His Work
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ, is the eternal Son of God. In His incarnation, He took upon Himself the nature and flesh of man. He did not, however, cease to be God, but maintained both simultaneously, truly God and truly man. He was conceived but the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary, in order that He might pay the debt man alone owed, but God alone could pay. We believe that Jesus lived a sinless life, fulfilling every “dot and iota” of the law. He died a vicarious, substitutionary, sacrificial, death on Calvary’s cross. He rose again on the third day, triumphing over death and guaranteeing our own bodily resurrection. He ascended into heaven and now reigns as the Sovereign King. In heaven He is also our Great High Priest, being our Representative, Intercessor, and Advocate. We believe that one day soon, in the fullness of time, He will return to claim His bride, which is the Church.
(Matt. 1:18-25, John 1:1-3, John 1:14, Matt. 5:17-18, Isaiah 53:4-6, 2 Cor. 5:21, 1 Cor. 15:3-4, 1 Cor. 15:20-23, Eph. 1:20-21, Heb.1:3, Heb. 4:14-16, Heb. 7:25, 1 Thess. 4:14-17)
Concerning God the Holy Spirit
We believe that the Holy Spirit came from God to convict the world of sin, righteousness and judgement. We believe that the Holy Spirit is the regenerator of spiritually dead souls. He indwells, sanctifies, comforts, instructs, and seals all those who place their faith in Christ for salvation.
(John 15:26, John 16:7-15, John 3:1-8 , 1 Cor. 6:19, Titus 3:5, Eph. 4:30)
Concerning Man, Sin, and Salvation
We believe that man was created in the image and likeness of God, but through Adam’s sin the race fell into sin, and became alienated from God. As a result, mankind is dead in their sins, totally depraved and unable to remedy this condition, and consequently condemned to an eternity in Hell. We believe that salvation is a gift of God offered to man by grace and received by saving faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, who shed His precious blood on Calvary to atone for the sins of His people and lived a sinless life so as to fulfill the just requirement of the law in our stead. We believe that a Christian’s position is righteous in Christ (Justified), however each believer possesses a new nature along with their sin nature. Each believer is to strive at all times for holiness of life, which is to be done by the grace of God and the power of the Holy Spirit. The life of the believer is never one licensed to sin, but one to be lived fruitfully and faithfully in service and witness solely for the glory of God. We believe that each person who is in Christ is given the grace and the strength, moment by moment, to persevere in their faith until the end. While there will be times of failing, God does not leave us there. It is impossible for one born into God’s family to ever be lost. All those who believe in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord will rejoice for eternity in Heaven, and all those who happily continue in their rebellion and sin against Him will be forever separated from God in eternal Hell.
(Rom. 5:12, Rom. 3:23, Rom. 5:8, Eph. 2:8-13, John 1:12-13, 2 Cor. 5:21, 1 Pet. 1:18-19, Gal. 5:13, 1 Cor. 10:31, John 6:39, Rom. 8:38-39, John 3:16, Rom. 6:23)
Concerning Creation
We believe that the account of creation and the early history of the earth as recorded in the first 11 chapters of Genesis is a literal, historical account and not to be understood as allegory or myth. We believe that the entirety of the material universe was created ex nihilo (out of nothing) in six literal 24-hour days by unique creative acts of God the Son, aided by God the Holy Spirit and directed by God the Father. We believe that all humans are descended from the historical, literal Adam and Eve. We reject all evolutionary claims and worldviews or doctrines that allow for integration of any aspects of those claims to the Biblical account.
(Gen. 1:1-2, Gen. 1:27, Gen. 1:31, Ex. 20:11, John 1:3, Col. 1:15-19)
Concerning the Church
We believe that the Church is a living spiritual body of which Christ is the head and all regenerated people of this present age are members. We believe that a local church is a company of believers in Jesus Christ, associated for worship, work, and fellowship. I believe that the autonomous continuance of these bodies is clearly taught in the New Testament. We believe that the sacraments of believer’s baptism by immersion and the Lord’s Supper were committed to these local churches for perpetual observance by believers alone.
(Eph. 1:22-23, Acts 2:42-47, Heb. 10:25, Titus 1:5-11, Matt. 28:19-20, 1 Cor. 11:23-32)
Concerning Marriage and Sexuality
We believe that God has ordained the institution of marriage, which is the lifelong union between one man and one woman. We believe that God has reserved sexual acts for marriage, so any sexual acts outside of marriage are sin. We believe that since gender is God-given to each human, it is a sin to change or attempt to mute one’s gender, whether it is by behavior or by physical alteration.
(Gen. 2:18-25, Rom. 1:24-32, 1. Cor. 6:15-20, Gen. 1:27, Ps. 139:13-18)
Concerning Things to Come
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ will come back to earth again, and that His second coming will be a literal, bodily, personal appearance to the earth. We believe that in His second advent, Christ will fully and finally defeat all His enemies. We believe that there will be a great resurrection and a final judgement for all people who have ever lived. Christ will then usher in the New Heaven and New Earth in while all things will be made new and perfect.
